SSC CGL Exam pattern 2018

The SSC CGL Exam pattern comprises of merely three different stages, which includes-

  • Online Written Exam (TIER-1, TIER-2)
  • TIER-3 (Descriptive Test-Letter Writing/Essay)
  • TIER-4 (Computer Proficiency Test)
  • Interview
  • Document Verification

TIER-I Exam Paper is applicable for all position & to clear the minimum cutoff marks is mandatory to appear for the next stage of TIER-II Level, further, the descriptive paper pattern is shown below-

Tier II Exam Pattern

The TIER-II paper is conducted on the very day, the paper consists of Quantitative Aptitude & English Language

In addition to the AAO & JSO Position, Paper-3 & Paper-4 are conducted for the overall selection.

TIER-III Exam is among, one the level for the entire selection cycle of SSC CGL consisting of Pen-Paper mode which is totally descriptive in nature, this level includes Letter writing/Essay in English or Hindi Medium. The main objective behind TIER-III Exam is to evaluate the parameters like:

  • Candidates proper Understanding of Topics
  • Knowledge of the Topic
  • Writing Skill Test
  • Typing Skill Test (Accuracy & Fastness)
  • Content Writing Skill Test


TIER-IV Level exam merely is only for those who have applied for the position of Tax assistant, this test includes Basic Computer proficiency test, knowledge in Computer/Related & Typing Test, further objective of TIER-IV exam is to test candidates eligibility of basic computer working knowledge, related programmes (MS WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint Presentation etc)

Exam Preparation Strategy



  • Practice for  more & more MOCK Tests
  • Analyze the weaker  area from previous MOCK Test
  • Spend more time on a weaker area at home.
  • Analyze the area of a maximum question asked
  • Make your calculation speed faster
  • Avoid silly mistakes, e.g.- Calculation error etc
  • Spend more on Quantitative Analysis
  • Solve previous year Question banks
  • Start with the easy section
  • Time Management is very important in real time exam

How to Apply: SSC CGL Exam 2018

SSC CGL Part 1 Registration

  • To apply for the PART-1 registration of SSC CGL application form, visit official website
  • You will land on the Main page of SSC CGL containing application process details
  • Click on Examination Part-1 registration & further on online form option
  • Fill detailed basic information like Name, Father’s name, DOB. Category, communication address, contact number, valid e-mail Id etc
  • Candidates also needed to align the preferences as per their Post wise choices.
  • Finally click on “I AGREE” on a button after filling the detailed personal information, in the part-1 Registration
  • After submission of Part-1 registration, the system will generate the unique Registration Number & password to complete the Part-II Registration.
  • Take the print out of the PART-1 Registration process for your future references, if any.

SSC CGL Part-2 Registration

  • The candidates will be required to log in again for the PART-2 Registration process
  • Enter the Registration Number & Password, generated in the Part-1 registration process to continue.
  • The very first step will be Online PAYMENT or Offline Payment (Challan Mode), in order to proceed further.
  • The candidates are required to upload the photograph & signature as per the instruction (size & format)
